heidelberg: the city

I finally went to Heidelberg for the day!  Since I’m travelling with the other exchange students this weekend, I’m scheduling a few blog posts with photos from my Heidelberg trip.  Today’s pictures are of the city itself.  It was an overcast day, so the lighting on the pictures isn’t great, but I hope you enjoy them anyway.

cool fountain in heidelberg, approaching the altstadt from the hauptbahnhof

I thought this fountain was pretty cool.  I saw it while walking from the Hauptbahnhof (main train station) to the Altstadt (old [part of the] city).  The Altstadt is near the castle itself.

a church. unfortunately i didn't see the name anywhere.

This is a church I saw while walking around.  The stained-glass windows were beautiful, and the tower was really cool to see up close.  I unfortunately do not know the name of this church, though.  Oops.

view of the gate at the end of the old bridge (altbrücke)

This is the gate at the Altstadt end of the Old Bridge (Altbrücke).  The Old Bridge was pretty too, but I’ll post a nice view of that in a couple of days.  (Yay WordPress for having blog post scheduling!)  So check back tomorrow and the day after for more pictures of Heidelberg!
